PATTAYA, Thailand – The 200th episode of Adult Site Broker Talk airs next week, with 2023 XBIZ Performer of the Year Cherie DeVille as a very special guest.
XBIZ spoke with industry veteran Bruce Friedman, who runs Adult Site Broker and has also hosted the popular spin-off Insider podcast for the past four years.
Friedman jokes that he started ASB Talk because he didn’t have enough to do.
“I’m joking,” he laughs. “I used to be a sports reporter and I lacked the creativity to do something like that. And podcasts are popular and a great way to promote your business.”
Listening back to the first episode that featured LALExpo’s Anthony Rivera — as XBIZ’s JC Adams reported in May 2020, a few months after the pandemic shutdown — Friedman can take pride in how far the show has come in less than half a decade .
“The funny thing is how bad the show technically sounded then compared to now,” he admits. “I really improved my technical skills in terms of microphone, hiring an editor, sound processing, etc.”
Any interview show is as strong as its guests, and Friedman is a persistent booker for his show. Segments with industry advocates, he says, “are always interesting, especially in these crazy times of the war on porn. Mike Stabile and Alison Boden from FSC also gave me some fascinating segments. And my podcast sisters Lily Craven from Phone Sex with Lily and Coralyn Jewel from Embrace are always fun.
“Really, I’ve had so many great guests that I can’t name the best or most interesting ones,” Friedman adds, though he urges listeners to tune in for next week’s special anniversary show.
“It was very memorable to have Cherie on,” he says. “She’s the biggest star I’ve ever had: a porn megastar. Learning about all the other parts of her life blew me away too, and so did the audience.
Friedman started in the industry as a webmaster with a number of sites, but he admits it “wasn’t his thing.”
“I fell back on what I knew: providing B2B services to companies, first in marketing, then consulting and finally website brokerage,” he explains. “We are getting more and more referrals and that makes us more successful. Moreover, we are now dealing with larger deals. It’s a natural progression, but it’s still just for me and some subcontractors. I don’t have any staff – and I don’t want to either.”
And as the industry changed, Friedman changed with it.
“The biggest initial change was the tube sites and most recently the OnlyFans phenomenon, so now we’ve started too Only Fans Agency Broker.”
By adapting and diversifying, Friedman sees a bright future for his companies and also for the podcast.
“If something isn’t broken, why fix it?” he decides. “I hope to continue doing both for many years to come.”
