LOS ANGELES – RedGIFs has partnered with StopNCII.org to prevent the spread of non-consensual intimate images (NCII) online.
“Since 2021, StopNCII.org has helped more than 300,000 people create cases to prevent intimate images and videos from being shared online without consent,” a representative said. “StopNCII.org uses the world’s first on-device hashing technology to give those threatened with intimate image misuse the ability to create digital fingerprints (also known as hashes) of their images.
“Only hashes are shared with participating platforms, so the original images or videos never leave the user’s device,” the representative added. “To protect user privacy, hashes are presented as a series of numbers and letters that cannot be reversed back to the original content.”
