Since everything else is “smart” these days, it was only a matter of time before sex-focused apps and toys hit the market. A few years ago, something like the We Vibe – vibrators that could be controlled by a partner remotely right from their phone – would have seemed the stuff of dreams. And yet, here we are. Since it was first introduced in 2014, Standard Innovations, maker of the We Vibe, has sold well over 300,000 units.
And there are many more to choose from: SheKnows listed their faves recently.
There is definitely something for everyone. In fact, if you’re willing to plunk down $1,899, then you’ve got yourself “The Cowgirl Premium Remote and App Controlled Riding Sex Machine.” And should you decide to spend handsomely, you won’t have to download their app – it comes with its own remote control for your rodeo-riding pleasure.
This brings me to an important point – that app component we keep talking about. While we at Maze champion any and all sex toys and aides that are safe, effective and inventive, there can be a downside to these high tech wonders: privacy. In fact, NPR reported in 2017 that Standard Innovations settled a class action lawsuit to the tune of $3.75 million.
So if you’re seeking something sensational in silicone (or other melty materials), just ensure you read the fine print when it comes to who has access to your data. Your sexual encounters, whether solo or duet, should be broadcast to no one without your express permission. Once you’ve gotten that out of the way – by all means – play, play and play some more!
